Rochester...take 2!

After coming back to Connecticut for a few days we turned around and headed back to Rochester for the wedding of our friends Matt and Belinda. We stayed at my parents' house, but they were out of town. They were with my sister Karen in Portugal. It was different to be in Rochester without them, but we enjoyed seeing my sisters and lots of friends.

We arrived on Thursday night and drove straight to Webster to see our friends Dan & Susanna and their kids Calvin, Abigail and Easton who were in town camping! It was wonderful to see them and introduce them to Hudson. We had a wonderful dinner and a great time. (I took this picture from Susanna's blog!)

We then were able to spend some time with Allison, Ellen, and Ellen's boyfriend Nick. We enjoyed getting to know Nick more and he was brave enough to hold Hudson--even though Hudson was pretty cranky!

Friday morning we headed to the University of Rochester to introduce Hudson to the staff in the admissions office where Jason used to work. We attracted quite a crowd in the hallway, and everyone enjoyed seeing Hudson. Jason was also able to see professors in the linguistics department and meet with Claire, his advisor from Yale. (Her husband is a professor at U of R, so she spends quite a bit of time in Rochester during her breaks.)

We were thankful that Jayne and Sarah graciously offered to take care of Hudson during the wedding Friday night. I think he was very "high maintenance" for them, and we really appreciate their willingness to care for him for the whole evening. He was in great hands.

Saturday morning Hudson rolled over from his back to his tummy! Jason was out playing with him in the living room (allowing me some more sleep) and the little guy rolled over! We spent some time with my grandparents that afternoon, and Hudson obliged and rolled over again! This time he also added from his tummy to his back. We are very proud of our little guy!

Sunday we really enjoyed being able to attend our church in Rochester. We loved being a part of a worship service in the new building and Hudson enjoyed the brand new nursery! It was wonderful to see many of our friends even for a short while.

My grandparents had invited us over to their place for a wonderful Father's Day brunch. Hudson gave his Great Granddad a card, and he was very intent on watching him open it!
We were thankful to be able to spend quite a bit of time with Grandma and Granddad, so they could get to see Hudson. It was a lot of fun!

Monday, Jason drove to Buffalo to meet with a professor at the University at Buffalo about one of his papers and some advice about future field work. It was a productive meeting, and Jason was thankful to be able to meet with him. I had lunch with my dear friend Dawn! It was great to be able to spend some time catching up with her. After that Aunt Allison joined us to spend some time with our good friend Kim and her kids.

Hudson was a good sport through all of the many things we did in Rochester! We loved being back in our "old" hometown, but were thankful to head back to our home in New Haven.
