It is hard to believe that September is come and gone and we are now in October! Here's a look at the major events in our lives this September.
| Auntie Karen came to visit us over Labor Day weekend! Hudson anxiously awaited the first sighting of her red SUV! |
| Opening a package from Grammy |
| Yum! Raisins--he's still enjoying them |
| Reading the alphabet book that Aunt Karen gave him before he was born |
| Building with blocks |
| Driving her SUV! A real highlight for Hudson who loves cars. |
| Messy but very happy boy during dinner--broccoli is one of his favorites |
| We were getting the car seats ready for the twins and Hudson tried out his old seat! |
| Such a big boy! |
| Hudson really enjoys sitting down on things and loves sitting on this stool. |
| Watching...what else? The Sound of Music! |
| Grandma came to visit in the middle of the month! |
| Lots of snuggling happened |
| Blowing bubbles! A huge highlight for him. |
| He still asks for them every time he sees Grandma on skype |
| We went to a nearby orchard to pick some apples--heading out to the trees in the wagon. Last year Hudson couldn't even sit up by himself in these. |
| Hudson enjoyed getting right down with the apples and picking them up off the ground. |
| Trying to pull the wagon all by himself! |
| Grandma showed him how to pick one off the tree. |
| Picking them himself--he had quite a knack for picking rotten ones! =) |
| Putting a good one in the bag |
| We also wanted to make sure he had a pumpkin! |
| Trying to decide which pumpkin to choose |
| We found it! One he could carry all by himself |
| Reading the "Freight Train" book with Grandma was lots of fun |
| Notice him holding the book with his foot! |
| Reading before Grandma headed home |
| Playing with his new block puzzle--a gift from Great Grandma & Grandpa |
| Aww |
| Giving kisses before Grandma left |
| Singing with Grandma |
| We had a box under the window for a few days that Hudson loved climbing on and he had a great view of the neighbor kids! |
| Hudson LOVES his yogurt |
| Hudson "posing" for the camera with his recent eye injury. He fell at church in the lobby and hit right below his right eye--doesn't look too black and blue here, but he had a great "shiner" for about a week. |
| Super excited about his puzzle blocks--his favorite by far is to do the side with the pig. I think he's saying, "Purple!" here because that's the color of the edge you look for to make the pig. |
We loved having Karen and Mom visit us this month and are looking forward to my parents being here at some point this month when the twins arrive. We are preparing Hudson the best we can for the arrival of his brother and sister. He knows that Mommy will go to the "hoffff" (hospital) to have the babies and that Grammy and "Pa" will come and stay with him!
Hudson continues to learn things quickly. I'm amazed at what he's learned in just the past few weeks. He continues to add new words to his vocabulary on a daily basis. Some of his recent words are "ice tea" and "cool". He's learned that he can say and do certain things to be funny. Things such as trying to put his sippy cup in his shape sorter and saying "arf, arf" (instead of I love you) in response to the song his Grandma sings: "My little Hudson says...". He will then laugh at himself too! He definitely enjoys being told he's silly or funny. He's mastered all the letters of the alphabet now and is getting quite good at counting to 10. His favorite numbers seem to be 2 and 8. Frequently he'll try to "make" the items go up to 8 or jump there so he can say it! He's learning a lot of nursery rhymes and seems to enjoy "Hickory Dickory Dock", "Sing a Song of Sixpence", "Humpty Dumpty" and "Rock A Bye Baby" the most. He can now fill in words to songs and many of his favorite books. The one we are the most impressed with his is "Road Machines" book that talks about building roads. He fills in words like "asphalt", "roadbed", "paver", "hard", "rotor", "fixed", and "finished". He clearly is paying attention when we read to him. =)
We are so thankful for our son and the bright mind that God has given him. It certainly gets him into trouble as well and we are praying that we will be able to help him to learn and grow in a way that is honoring and pleasing to God. We are working a lot on sharing and trying to be respectful to other kids. He's coming along, but still has a ways to go! I'm sure having a brother and sister will be very helpful in this process.
